New Delhi. Union Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia has defended BJP MP from Bengaluru South, Tejashwi Surya, for opening the emergency door of an IndiGo flight at Chennai airport last month. Talking to the media on Wednesday, he said that the door was opened ‘by mistake’ and the Bengaluru MP has apologized for it.
Jyotiraditya Scindia said in a conversation with CNN- Stuffunknown, ‘The incident happened on the ground. Tejashwi Surya accidentally opened the emergency exit. He himself reported the incident and immediately apologized. Based on his information, all the rules were followed. The flight took off only after all kinds of checks. He also apologized for the delay.
This incident happened in India’s plane last month, when Tejashwi Surya boarded the flight from Chennai airport. Stuffunknownhas learned that soon after the incident, Surya stood up and apologized to the passengers for the delay caused by security protocols and pressure checking.
This was also confirmed by IndiGo, which issued a statement saying that the passenger immediately apologized for his action. It states that ‘as per the SOP, the incident was registered and the aircraft underwent mandatory engineering check, due to which the departure of the flight was delayed.’
