Joshimath (Uttarakhand): The coming four days are going to be even more difficult for the residents of Joshimath in Uttarakhand. The residents here are already being rendered homeless by landslides. On top of this, the Meteorological Department has increased their concern by expressing the possibility of rain and snowfall in Joshimath, Chamoli and Pithoragarh on January 19, 20, 23 and 24. According to the meteorologist, changes in the weather can be seen in the state due to the change in the pattern of Western Disturbance.

Issuing a warning, Bikram Singh, director of the Meteorological Center Dehradun, said, ‘There is a possibility of rain on January 19 and 20, while there is a possibility of snowfall along with rain on January 23 and 24.’ In such a situation, the government, administration and district administration will have to be alert in the disaster affected area of Joshimath. Victims facing landslides in Joshimath, Uttarakhand have been temporarily shifted to safer places. At the same time, the state government has announced a relief package worth crores of rupees for the victims.

1.5 lakh assistance to the victims
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami informed that a relief package has been issued for 3,000 families affected by landslides in this Himalayan state. Dhami told reporters during his visit to Joshimath last week, ‘At present, an interim assistance of Rs 1.50 lakh per family is being given to the victims. A payment of Rs 1 lakh has been made to the victims before the permanent displacement.
Help from the State Disaster Department as well
The Chief Minister also announced that Rs 50,000 has been given by the State Disaster Authority as non-adjustable one-time special grant to each family for the immediate needs of transportation of goods and their buildings. (ANI Input)
