Israel vs Palestine: India said, ‘We strongly believe that only the’ Two Nation Solution ‘will lead to lasting peace which the people of Israel and Palestine want and deserve.
India’s Deputy Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Ambassador K.K. At the UN Security Council meeting on ‘Situation in West Asia, including the question of Palestine’, Nagraj Naidu said that New Delhi reiterates its support for Palestine and for the establishment of a sovereign and independent Palestine nation which is peaceful and Stayed with Israel in safety.
He said, ‘We firmly believe that only the’ two nation solution ‘will lead to lasting peace which the people of Israel and Palestine want and deserve. This should be achieved through direct dialogue between the two parties on issues of final status. Any unilateral action that may harm these last issues should be avoided.
Naidu termed recent diplomatic efforts to revive stalled peace talks as encouraging and said that the meetings of the Special Ambassador of ‘Quartet’ (the four major powers for peacekeeping in West Asia) have been held in time. India has asked ‘Quartet’ to start talks with Israel and the Palestinian leadership. Naidu said, ‘India welcomes all efforts aimed at strengthening the collective commitment of the international community to resume direct dialogue and carry forward the peace process.’ Special Coordinator for Peace in West Asia And the General Secretary’s personal representative, Tour Vainsland, said in the council meeting that the focus of the global community is to help bring the parties back to the negotiating table. Earlier this month, the League of Arab Nations reiterated its support for the establishment of an independent and sovereign Palestinian nation based on the 1967 border, which favored the creation of East Jerusalem.
