Instagram has finally started paying attention to the needs of Indian users. The company has released two big updates for India, which are based on language and creative features. The purpose of these updates is to enable Indian creators to reach their videos to more people and create better content in the Indian languages of their choice.
The first update is related to Meta AI Translations. Now Instagram Reels can be translated into five more Indian languages – Bengali, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Marathi. Earlier this facility was available only in English, Hindi, Spanish and Portuguese. Now if a creator records his reel in Hindi, he can easily convert it into Tamil, Bengali or any other available language. With this, people from different states will be able to easily understand the content made in each other’s language.
Instagram says that your voice will sound the same even after translation. Along with this, there is also a new lip-sync feature, which adjusts the movement of your lips according to the new language. This will make the video look as if you have recorded it by speaking that language yourself. In a country like India, where the language changes every few kilometers, this feature can prove to be very useful.
Another important update has come
The second big update is of Indian fonts. Instagram is now adding new fonts of Devanagari and Bengali-Assamese script. This means that now while writing text in Hindi, Marathi, Bengali or Assamese, you will be able to use such fonts which look perfect for these languages. If your phone is already set to an Indian language, those fonts will be the first to appear in the app. This feature will start rolling out for Android users in a few days.
Meanwhile, Instagram is also continuously adding many more creative features like AI restyling, improvements in photo-video editing, video reverse, new sound effects and even a feature to lip-sync still photos.
It is clear from all these updates that Instagram wants to make a big market like India more local and easier, so that creators can create better and more accessible content in their own language.
