London, Britain’s prestigious Oxford University (Oxford University, Britain) has appointed Indian-origin Soumitra Datta as the dean of its Said Business School. Soumitra Dutta will take over on June 1. He is currently Professor of Management at the SC Johnson College of Business, Cornell University, New York, USA.
Responding to his new appointment, Soumitra Datta said, “I am very excited to take on the new assignment at Said Business School, Oxford University, UK. My daughter Sara has graduated from Oxford itself. Me and my wife Lourdes have also spent a good time there. We both look forward to joining Oxford’s diverse, dynamic and constantly innovating community.
Soumitra Datta has been appointed in place of Peter Tufno. Peter Tufano resigned from the post of dean of Said Business School in June 2021 after his tenure of 10 years. Since then, Sue Dopson has been handling this responsibility as interim dean. After Dutta’s appointment to the post, Dopson said, “We and our school community are eagerly waiting for Professor Datta. He has rich experience of global leadership. All of us will benefit from it.
Soumitra Dutta has more than 30 years of experience in his field. At present, he is also holding the position of Head of the Global Business School Network. He has held high positions in INSEAD, France for 13 years. He is a member of the board of many big global companies. He has co-chaired the Global Future Council on Innovation Ecosystem of the World Economic Forum.
