Nagraj Naidu will look after the work as an assistant to Abdullah Shahid. The Foreign Minister of Maldives has given information about Nagraj being given this responsibility by tweeting. He tweeted, ‘Today I have appointed Ambassador Thilmeeza Hussain as Special Envoy. Apart from this, Ambassador Nagraj Naidu has been appointed as his chef du cabinet. Let us tell you that Chef du Cabinet is a French word, which means Chief Assistant or Private Secretary.
While Naidu is the Ambassador of India, Hussain is the Permanent Envoy of Maldives to the United Nations Mission. Apart from this, he has also got the responsibility as the ambassador of America and Canada. Talking about Naidu, he is the Permanent Deputy Representative of India to the United Nations. Now he will be sent on deputation to the United Nations by the Government of India, where he will look after the work of bureaucracy. In a way, it will be a post like the Chief Secretary to the PM. Naidu is probably the first Indian diplomat to be given this responsibility. This is also being seen as India’s increasing credibility and influence in the global world.

Earlier in January this year, India’s two-year temporary tenure in the United Nations Security Council started. This is the 8th time that India has been placed in the Security Council. Naidu’s appointment to the United Nations is important at a time when the whole world is engaged in efforts to recover from the Corona crisis. In the last session of the United Nations General Assembly, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar had attended virtually. Significantly, on Monday, there was voting for the President of the United Nations General Assembly, in which India voted in favor of Maldives.
