Mumbai. Reliance Industries Limited Chairman and Managing Director Mukesh Ambani said on Saturday that India should become the world’s leading country in the field of Artificial Intelligence (AI), but it is important to give equal importance to human sensitivity and compassion while adopting new technology.
In an event organized on the occasion of International Human Solidarity Day, Mukesh Ambani said that the country’s largest private company has come very close to the solution of India’s energy problem. He said that the efforts being made in the field of solar energy and energy storage can prove to be a big achievement for India.
World leader in AI
CMD said that Reliance’s telecom company Jio has worked to connect India with the global digital mainstream through its services. He said, “We need AI and India should become a world leader in it, but above all we need empathy and compassion. By linking intelligence with human compassion and prosperity with purpose, India can present a new model of development to the world.”
There are immense possibilities of solar energy
He said that there was a time when there were people within Reliance itself who were skeptical about the telecom business. Referring to the energy field, he said that India is dependent on imports for 80 percent of its energy needs and energy storage has been a big challenge, whereas there is immense potential for solar energy in the country. He said that Reliance is now close to changing this situation and is working towards using solar energy not just as an option for a few hours, but as a long term solution. Ambani credited Reliance board member RA Mashelkar for laying the foundation of these efforts.
Company will make energy affordable
He said that through this business, Reliance will show the way to make clean and green energy available in abundant and affordable manner, not only to India but to many countries of the world. He said that in the last few years, Reliance has emphasized on developing itself as an innovation based company.
Aim to become a deep tech company
Referring to his teacher and famous scientist MM Sharma, he said that he had challenged Reliance to focus on innovation and not just limited to successful execution. CMD said that in the last two decades, Mashelkar has played an important role in making Reliance a company with deep research and technology innovation by working at the grassroots level. He told that out of the total employees of the company, there are now more than one lakh technical professionals. He said that Reliance has formed Innovation Council and New Energy Council, so that the goal of becoming a deep tech company can be further strengthened.
