New Delhi. Captain Yash Dhull scored the third consecutive half-century to help India recover from the initial setback against South Africa in Guyana. Indian team captain Yash Dhul scored 82 runs in 100 balls with the help of 11 fours. On the basis of his captaincy innings, the Indian team could score 232 runs in 46.5 overs in the Group B match against South Africa in the Under-19 World Cup 2022. Yash had earlier scored half-centuries in the two warm-up matches of the tournament against West Indies and Australia. He played an unbeaten 50 against Australia and 52 against West Indies.
Matthew Boast was the most successful among South African bowlers, who took three wickets for 40 runs in nine overs. Effieve Mayanda and Devald Brevis took two wickets each. South Africa captain George Van Heerden won the toss against India in the Under-19 World Cup on Saturday and decided to field first. The start of the match was delayed by about 40 minutes due to rain. Along with Yash Dhul, Shaik Rashid also contributed 31 runs in 54 balls. Earlier, Nishant Sindhu scored 27 runs in 25 balls. South African bowler Mayanda gave India a double blow in the first six overs, dismissing Harnoor Singh and Angkrish Raghuvanshi.

After being invited to bat, the Indian team lost the wickets of openers Angkrish Raghuvanshi (05) and Harnoor Singh (01) on the score of 11 runs. After this, Yash Dhul and Shaik Rashid (31) took charge of the team by sharing 71 runs for the third wicket.
Yash Dhul was batting well, he got the ball across the boundary line 11 times during his innings of 100 balls before being run out. Dhul was standing at his end. Nishant Sindhu played a useful innings of 27 runs in 25 balls, but could not stay at the crease for long. After his departure, Raj Bawa (13) was also dismissed early. He was the sixth player to be dismissed. After his departure, Kaushal Tambe made an important contribution of 35 runs.

India are one of the favorites to lift the trophy after recently winning the Under-19 Asia Cup and registering victories against hosts West Indies and Australia in the warm-up fixtures of the showpiece event. India is the most successful team having won four titles in 2000, 2008, 2012 and 2018. India has also been runner-up in the previous edition of the tournament held in 2016 and in 2020 in New Zealand. India are placed in Group B along with South Africa, Ireland and Uganda.
