Pets Care Tips In Winters: In winters, it is important to protect not only humans but also pets from cold, otherwise they may suffer from problems like cold, pneumonia etc. Expert Anil Yadav told how to take care of pets in this season.
Severe cold has now knocked. The temperature in Hazaribagh has fallen to 12 degrees Celsius. While the effect of increasing cold is visible on the daily routine of common people, animals are also not untouched by it. With increasing cold, cases of diseases among animals have started appearing rapidly.
Apart from milch animals like cow and buffalo, symptoms of cold, cough and flu are also seen in dogs and cats. In many cases, serious conditions like pneumonia are also developing in animals, due to which the problems of these pet owners have increased.
On this subject, Dr. Anil Kumar Das (BVSc, Bihar Veterinary College, Patna), medicine expert of Government Veterinary Hospital, Hazaribagh, says that viral infections and respiratory problems are common in animals in winter. The main reason behind this is that when animals are not able to eat adequate amount of fodder, their health starts deteriorating rapidly.

He further said that pet parents can easily identify whether the animal is suffering from cold or not by looking at some common symptoms. In such a situation, water starts coming from the nose and eyes of the animal. Body hair stands up. The animal eats less and becomes lethargic. These symptoms can also be the beginning of a serious disease.
He further said that by taking timely care and caution, animal farmers can avoid these problems to a great extent. First of all it is important to protect the animals from cold. Bathing animals should be avoided in the morning and evening, as this can increase infection.
He advised that in cold weather, animals should be taken out of the house only after sunrise. Apart from this, they should be given lukewarm water to drink, so that the body temperature remains balanced and the effect of cold can be reduced.
Steaming the animal and feeding dry fodder is also very beneficial. If necessary, the diet of the animal should be changed so that it gets adequate energy and its immunity does not weaken.
