Agriculture News: Agriculture Officer Shashi Shekhar told Local 18 that in order to encourage the farmers of the district, the Agriculture Department is currently providing a 10 kg packet free of cost to every farmer. This scheme has been launched keeping in mind the small and marginal farmers.
With the onset of winter season, a golden opportunity has arrived for the farmers of Godda district to sow Rabi crops. In this season, by doing organic cultivation of lentils, farmers can not only achieve better production but can also earn a good income. This time, special advice is being given to farmers by Krishi Vigyan Kendra and Agriculture Department to sow brown lentil variety lentil seeds.
This seed is completely certified. Its biggest specialty is that it is capable of giving good yields even in less water and less fertile land. This variety can prove to be very beneficial for those farmers who have limited irrigation facilities or whose land is not very fertile. Apart from this, if this seed is cultivated with organic fertilizers like cow dung, vermi compost or green manure, then further increase in production can be seen.
Farmer will get 10 kg packet free of cost
Mahagama Agriculture Officer Shashi Shekhar told Local 18 that in order to encourage the farmers of the district, the Agriculture Department is currently providing a 10 kg packet free of cost to each farmer. This scheme has been started keeping in mind the small and marginal farmers, so that they can produce better crops at lower cost. Shashi Shekhar also informed that the farmers who are not able to get seeds under the government scheme, can also buy it from the market. The price of this brown lentil seed in the market is around Rs 100 per kg, which is considered economical compared to other seeds.
Farmers’ income will increase through organic farming
According to agricultural experts, organic farming of lentils will not only increase the income of the farmers but will also maintain the fertility of the soil. Due to good demand for organic lentils in the market, farmers can also get better prices. In such a situation, Rabi season can prove to be a great opportunity for the farmers of Godda district to become financially strong through lentil cultivation.
