Kangana Ranaut, while speaking in the Lok Sabha, said that PM Modi hacks people’s hearts, not EVMs. While making a sharp attack on the opposition, Kangana also lashed out at Priyanka Gandhi’s statement of “leave aside old matters”. He claimed that Sonia Gandhi was not an Indian citizen till 1983, yet she kept voting before that. When Kangana was entering Parliament, opposition leaders were part of the photo session.
The winter session of Parliament continues. Today, while posing for photographs of a group of opposition MPs in the Parliament complex, actress Kangana Ranaut, who recently became MP, was seen entering the House while avoiding the side. In this photo, many leaders of the opposition camp are standing together on the green stairs and getting themselves photographed, while Kangana, wearing a light brown saree, carrying a bag in her hand, is rapidly climbing the stairs. Kangana Ranaut’s attitude is as if she is going straight towards her destination without talking to anyone.
Kangana Ranaut launched a strong attack in the House today and targeted opposition leader Rahul Gandhi. He said that “Narendra Modi hacks hearts, not EVMs” and termed the opposition corrupt by linking it to the history of vote-stealing. Kangana alleged that the opposition is not allowing the House to function, due to which important bills of national interest are being prevented from being discussed.
Kangana Ranaut said that Priyanka Gandhi saying “forget old matters” is hypocrisy. He asked that when your mother did not hold citizenship till 1983, why was she still voting, is this democracy? Kangana refused to give relief to the opposition on election disputes, saying that Narendra Modi “hacks” people’s hearts and not EVMs. His victory is not due to machines but due to social support.

Kangana Ranaut alleged that the opposition is trying to stop the work of the House and wants only to make noise, not discussion. Kangana said that such people are weakening the spirit of democracy by raising questions on the voting system.
Kangana Ranaut made serious allegations against Congress of anti-women mentality, defaming democracy and tarnishing the reputation of the country. Kangana Ranaut also spoke to the media outside the House. He said that his main focus will be on infrastructure like roads, education and health. He accused the opposition of focusing only on personal attacks.
Today in Parliament, Amit Shah said that for 73 years the appointment of the Election Commissioner was completely based on the discretion of the Prime Minister. He told that from 1950 to 1989, the Prime Minister used to send the names directly and the President used to issue notifications. At that time no one ever questioned the process. Shah sarcastically said that now that a transparent law has been made, the opposition is remembering the problem.
Shah clarified that by bringing a new law in 2023, the appointment process was made institutional and accountable. He said that now the Prime Minister and the opposition leader together select the minister who joins the selection committee. Political balance, public participation and constitutional transparency have been ensured in this process. Shah called it a big step towards democratic reforms.
Amit Shah accused the opposition that earlier they never raised questions on this appointment system. Shah said that when there were Congress governments, everything was considered fine. But as soon as the Narendra Modi government made the process transparent by making a law, the opposition started raising objections to take political advantage. He called it a strategy to mislead the public.
Shah said that the results of Bihar proved that the vote bank of infiltrators is no longer effective. He claimed that the people of Bihar gave a clear message that illegal voters cannot decide the electoral equation. On the same lines, he said that people will show similar sentiments in Bengal and BJP will win with full majority. Shah called it a matter of national security.
On the opposition’s walkout during Shah’s speech, he said that running away from debate is an old habit of the opposition. He said that he got a chance to ask questions, but did not wish to hear the answers. Shah sarcastically said that the opposition does not want discussion on reforms but only political noise. He also said that serious dialogue on electoral reforms is the only way to strengthen democracy.
Regarding deletion of CCTV data in 45 days, Shah said that this is in accordance with Section 81 of the Representation of the People Act. He said that the legal time limit for challenging the election results is only 45 days. The period for preserving CCTV was decided on the same basis. He said that when the law ends the right to dispute after 45 days, there is no legal requirement to keep the footage for a long time.
Amit Shah warned the opposition that repeatedly blaming EVMs will not hide their plight. He said that the real reason for losing the elections is the weak leadership of the opposition, disorganized cadre and poor voter list management. According to Shah, those who won elections with the help of these machines for 20 years are now losing and resorting to allegations. He said that one day the public will definitely demand answers from him.
