Agriculture News: With the unique initiative of Manendragarh Forest Division, a new phase of lac rearing on Palash (Parsa) trees has started in the district. Those trees which earlier had no special commercial use, are today becoming a strong means of increasing the income of farmers. Lac production is increasing rapidly in rural areas due to scientific technology and Manendragarh is gradually moving towards becoming the lac hub of Chhattisgarh.
The large number of Palash trees present in the villages are now being used scientifically. With the help of the Forest Department and committees, farmers have started lac transmission on thousands of trees, which has brought new life to the rural economy.
Behan Lakh was distributed to farmers of many villages including Bhauta, Narayanpur, Chhipchhipi, Bundeli, Chanti and Jardol. In just two years, Behan Lakh transmission increased from 276 trees to 6 thousand trees, creating a new avenue of additional income along with farming.
By 2025, 400 farmers from 37 villages of the district will be involved in lac production. This time the entire Behan Lakh was produced by the residents of the district, due to which Manendragarh has reached the top in Chhattisgarh. The target is to increase production three times next year.
