Delhi IGI Airport: There is an atmosphere of chaos at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport since morning. The reason is that due to dense fog, flight operations have almost come to a halt. Yes, due to dense fog, about 40 flights have been canceled from Delhi Airport so far. Apart from this, seven flights have been diverted to Jaipur and Ahmedabad, which include domestic as well as international flights.
The flights diverted from IGI Airport to Ahmedabad include Singapore Airlines flight SQ402 coming from Singapore. Apart from this, Spice Jet flight SG12 (Dubai-Delhi), another Spice Jet flight SG88 (Bangkok-Delhi), two Akasa Air flights QP1811 and QP1359 coming from Bengaluru, Air India Express flight IX1282 (Mumbai-Delhi) and a chartered flight have gone to Jaipur Airport.
200+ flights have been delayed
According to airport sources, more than 200 flights were delayed from Delhi Airport since 11 am. Among these, there are many flights which have departed for their destination airport with a delay of about 5 to 6 hours from their scheduled time. Indigo flight 6E-33 from Delhi to Manchester is also included in these flights. This flight has left for Manchester about six hours late from its scheduled time. Apart from these, Air India’s flight AI215 to Kathmandu took off late by about one and a half hour.
Average delay in departure is 60 minutes
According to sources, at present there is an average delay of up to one hour in flights taking off from Delhi Airport. There is an average delay of up to 45 minutes in flights coming to Delhi. Let us tell you that early today the visibility (RVR) on all three runways of the airport had gone below 350 meters. After which Cat Three procedure was implemented on all the runways. During this period, only those aircraft could take off or land from the airport, which were equipped with Cat 3 technology and their pilots were expert in flying flights with the help of this technology.
