New Delhi. If your companion is not able to board the train or you are left behind on the platform, then never make the mistake of pulling the alarm chain of the train, because it is a legal offense. A special intensive campaign is being run to ensure safe and timely running of trains and to stop unnecessary alarm chain pulling. Railway administration said that under Section 141 of the Railway Act 1989, alarm chain without proper reason is a punishable offense. For this, imprisonment up to one year, fine of Rs 1,000 or both can be given.
The administration says that unnecessary chain pulling is the main reason for train delay. A sudden stoppage of a train affects its punctuality and also affects the speed of other trains running behind it. This affects both the valuable time of passengers and the operational efficiency of the Railways. It is often seen that some people, who come to the platform to drop the passengers, are not able to get off the train at the right time and pull the chain to stop it. Such irresponsible behavior causes inconvenience to passengers traveling across the train and disrupts train operations.
On whom was the action taken?
Case 1: Passenger Bhavesh Kumar pulled the chain in train number 12808 at Agra Cantt station when his co-passenger could not board. Registered in case number 4094/25.
Case 2: Passenger Deepak Patil pulled the chain in train number 12612 at Agra Cantt after fellow passengers left it on the platform. Case number 4095/25.
Case 3: Saurabh Kumar pulled the chain to load his family and luggage in train 13238 at Mathura Junction. Case number 3440/25.
Case 4: Nivesh Ahirwar stopped train 12919 at Mathura Junction to pick up his friend. Case number 3441/25.
The railway administration has given a clear warning that the alarm chain should be used only in case of emergency such as accident, passenger’s health deteriorating or security threat. Doing so for trivial reasons is a crime and strict action will be taken against the culprits. Railways has appealed to the passengers to follow the rules and cooperate in safe, timely train operations so that all journeys remain smooth and convenient.
