Banarasi saree is not just a cloth, it is a sheet of memories which passes from mother to daughter. With proper care it looks like new for years. If you keep a few simple things in mind, your Banarasi saree will last for years.

Never hang Banarasi saree on a hanger. Its weight is heavy due to which the border or zari work can get pulled. The best way is to fold it well and keep it in a straight place. This keeps the cloth in good condition and its shine also remains.

If you always keep the saree folded in the same way, the silk quickly becomes weak. Change its folds every three to four months. This will prevent pressure on the cloth and the saree will remain strong.

Before keeping the saree, wrap it in white muslin cloth. This will maintain its shine and the threads will not turn black. Avoid colored clothes otherwise its color may come on the saree.

Keep the saree in a place where there is no moisture. Keep silica gel or some dry rice in the cupboard, this keeps moisture away and the silk does not get spoiled.
