Sonia Gandhi: Odisha Congress leader Mohammad Mokim wrote a letter to Sonia Gandhi expressing concern over the poor performance of the party. He appealed to give opportunity to new faces and appealed to Rahul Gandhi to meet the workers. Mokim said, “Congress is in my blood. Even today I am a soldier of the Congress party.”
Cuttack. Odisha Congress leader Mohammad Mokim on Thursday expressed concern over the continuous disappointing performance of the party in the state and the country. He wrote a letter to Congress Parliamentary Party President Sonia Gandhi on this subject and gave some suggestions. Speaking to IANS, Congress leader Mohammad Mokim said, “After the general elections, Congress’s performance was poor in five states, especially in Delhi, we did not get even a single seat. In Bihar, the party was limited to six seats. By-elections were held in Odisha, in which we got defeated. Somewhere, the party is not moving on the right path. Therefore, I have written a letter to Sonia Gandhi and conveyed my thoughts to her. I have written some points, in which if improvements are not made then Congress will have to take further action.” It will be difficult.”
He said that questions should be raised on Congress’s repeated confidence in Sharat Patnaik. He said that still the person whom he had appointed had started dividing Odisha. We have lost the elections in his constituency by a huge margin. We have lost the elections six times. Congress has not come from 2000 till today. If we have to prepare for 2029 and if we do not prepare keeping this topic in mind, then Congress will never be able to emerge. Senior leaders who have lost elections several times will have to be replaced by some new faces so that the Congress party can move forward.”
Mokim said, “Congress is in my blood. When such a big party is sinking, it is the duty of all of us party workers to make the party aware of it. Even today I am a soldier of the Congress party. Sonia Gandhi is our leader and I have full hope that she will be aware of the problems of the party and will try to improve it.”
Regarding Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi, he said, “Rahul Gandhi is our leader. Just as Indira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi used to meet people openly, listen to their problems and solve them, Rahul Gandhi should also do the same. He used to do this earlier, but for the last 5 years we are not seeing this. If he does not meet the leaders and workers, then how will the party improve? Holding a padayatra is a different subject, but decorating booths with the workers is a different subject.”
