A total of 2468 minikits of lentils were allotted to the district by the Government of India, out of which 1516 packets are still left and these are being distributed free of cost to the farmers. Apart from this, 200 minikits of gram are also available at the warehouses, which have been distributed in equal quantity at all the centres. Farmers who want to sow lentils or gram can immediately contact the seed warehouse and get these minikits.
Delay in sowing will cause big loss
The District Agriculture Officer has warned the farmers that the suitable time for sowing wheat is fast passing.
If sowing is done late, the production decreases by 30 to 40 kg per hectare per day. This increases the cost of the crop and reduces the net profit. Therefore, an appeal has been made to the farmers to obtain the subsidized seeds before the last date so that there is no decline in production.
Agriculture Department’s appeal: Take care of both time and convenience
The Agriculture Department said that to avoid increasing crowd at the warehouses, farmers reached to collect seeds as soon as possible. The grant facility is for a limited period and free minikits are also being given on first come first serve basis.
