Delhi New Vehicle Rules- From today, two new rules regarding vehicles have come into effect in Delhi. From today, such vehicles will not be allowed entry in Delhi which do not meet BS-6 standards. Apart from this, no vehicle will get fuel at the petrol pump without a valid Pollution Control Certificate (PUCC).
New Delhi. If you live in Delhi or commute to Delhi daily from Noida, Gurugram, Ghaziabad or Faridabad in your car, then this news is for you only. In view of the deadly pollution in the capital, the Delhi government has implemented many rules from today i.e. December 18, 2025, which are affecting both your pocket and travel. The rules are so strict that if your vehicle does not meet the conditions, you will not be allowed to enter Delhi and no petrol pump owner will even give you petrol or diesel.
The biggest change that has happened today is the entry ban on vehicles of standards below BS-6 in Delhi. The government has made it clear that only BS-6 (Bharat Stage-6) standard petrol and diesel vehicles coming from other states (UP, Haryana etc.) will get entry into Delhi. If your car, taxi or commercial vehicle is of BS-2, BS-3 or BS-4 category, then do not go towards Delhi border even by mistake. You will be sent back. Teams of police and transport department have been deployed on all the borders of Delhi from this morning to stop the entry of these vehicles in Delhi. Electric vehicles (EV) and CNG vehicles have been completely kept out of this ban.
Oil will not be available at petrol pumps without PUCC
Delhi government has strictly implemented the policy of ‘No PUCC, No Fuel’. From today, if you go to fill oil at any petrol pump in Delhi, it is mandatory for you to have a valid Pollution Control Certificate (PUCC). Automatic number plate recognition cameras at petrol pumps will identify vehicles which do not have PUCC. Government employees will also check vehicles at petrol pumps. As soon as your vehicle reaches the pump, the system will immediately check whether your pollution certificate has expired. If the certificate is not found valid, the pump operator will refuse to give you oil.
How to check BS standard of the vehicle?
You can find out which BS standard your car is by looking at the Registration Certificate (RC) of your car. It is written on the RC whether your vehicle is BS-4 or BS-6. If your car is old (BS-3 or BS-4), then use metro, bus or cab to go to Delhi today. By looking at the hard copy of the Pollution Control Certificate (PUCC), you will know whether the PUCC of your vehicle is valid or expired. You can also check the validity of your PUCC online by visiting vahan.parivahan.gov.in/puc.
