According to AMU Professor Dr. Syed Ziaur Rehman, fishes like salmon, rohu and tuna are especially beneficial in winter. Salmon is an excellent source of Vitamin D, which compensates for the deficiency due to lack of sunlight, and the Omega-3 fatty acids present in it are beneficial for heart health, cholesterol control and mental strength. Rohu is rich in Vitamin A, which is beneficial for vision, skin and immune system, and is easily available and affordable in the Indian diet. Tuna fish is a good source of Vitamin C, which is beneficial for eye and brain health and is easily available in fresh, frozen and canned form. According to Professor Rahman, regular consumption of these fish in winter not only increases nutrition but also helps in staying healthy by strengthening the body’s immunity.
