Jamshedpur. After a long wait, the admission of patients in the ICU i.e. Intensive Care Unit is going to start from today in Jamshedpur’s Mahatma Gandhi Memorial (MGM) Medical College and Hospital. This news is a relief not only for the city but for the entire Kolhan region, because now seriously ill patients will be able to get better and modern treatment facilities in their own city. The hospital administration has also issued guidelines related to ICU operations, so that the process of admission and treatment remains completely systematic and transparent.
Now 10 beds, soon there will be 20
The preparations of the ICU were reviewed by the superintendent of the hospital. During this, he told that a 10-bed ICU is being started in the initial phase. As per the need, it will soon be expanded to 20 beds. At present, breathing assistance will be provided to serious patients in the ICU through CPAP and BiPAP machines. After the installation of the oxygen pipeline in the coming days, the facility of ventilator will also be started, which will further increase the treatment capacity.
Only the needy should get treatment
Only those patients whose condition is really serious will be admitted to ICU. The hospital management has clarified that patients with decreased level of consciousness, instability in blood pressure, severe respiratory problems, sudden worsening of chronic disease, complications after major surgery or any kind of life-threatening condition will be given priority. Its aim is to ensure that ICUs are properly utilized and that the most needy patients receive prompt treatment.
no one will enter
The hospital administration is also completely alert regarding infection control. Due to security reasons, there is a complete ban on entry of any family member into the ICU. The care of patients will be the responsibility of fully trained doctors and nursing staff. This will not only reduce the risk of infection, but treatment can also be done more effectively.
Beginning of MGM, helpful for patients
MGM management claims that with the opening of the new ICU, the capacity of emergency medical services of the hospital will almost double. Serious patients will now get the benefit of better monitoring, timely treatment and modern equipment. This is a big facility for the common people, because now they will have less compulsion to refer serious patients to big cities outside.
The start of ICU service in MGM is an important step towards strengthening the health facilities, which will prove helpful in saving many lives in the future.
