Regarding the comments of Congress leaders on attending the banquet organized in honor of Russian President Vladimir Putin, Congress MP Shashi Tharoor said that he does not want to get involved in any kind of controversy. Tharoor’s comments come a day after the banquet hosted in Putin’s honor by President Draupadi Murmu. Tharoor also said that other Congress leaders were not invited, which is a matter of shame. He said on Saturday, “I think they have made their point and I don’t want to get into any controversy. I am sad that some of them were not invited. It is a shame that it happened. But as far as I am concerned, I did not think it would be right to turn down an invitation from our President to attend a banquet given in honor of a foreign President, when my job requires me to be involved in foreign affairs matters…”
