Delhi: Sangeeta Devi, resident of Jitwarpur village of Madhubani district of Bihar, has reached the India International Trade Fair in the country’s capital Delhi. His life was once limited to managing the kitchen and household only. Leave aside going out, he did not even know what the world was like after leaving home, but in the year 2013, when he decided to join Jeevika, his life took a new turn. Sangeeta tells that I was just so happy that I came out of the house. Sat and talked with 10 sisters. Got new courage from there.
Got loan of only Rs 15000
He got a loan of only Rs 15,000 from Saras Aajeevika. The amount was small, but the intention was big. He started the work of Mithila painting. In the beginning he did not have confidence in himself, but gradually his hard work started paying off. She says I removed the veil, explained to my sisters what I do. Then one by one everyone pushed me forward.
Property worth Rs 10 lakh and status of ‘Lakhpati Didi’
In a few years, Sangeeta Devi’s work increased so much that today she has property worth Rs 10 lakh, which she sells at different places. His paintings are in great demand and people never get tired of praising his art. Today she proudly says that I have become Lakhpati Didi. Lakhpati Didi Yojana gave recognition to his talent and took him across the country. She has displayed her art in many such cities like Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Rajasthan, Delhi, Patna, Odisha.
Got not only economic but also social recognition
Sangeeta Devi tells that her life completely changed after joining Jeevika and Yojana. She not only became financially strong. But also got social recognition. Now she is self-reliant, can take decisions and has become an inspiration for many women. Sangeeta says that today my husband is also standing with me, we both earn together and are providing good education to the children. Today I am living my life very happily.
