How To Wash Helmet: Helmet is not only a means of safety, but also affects health to some extent. In the absence of proper hygiene, you can come in contact with bacteria and get surrounded by diseases. Not only this, it can also spoil the health of your skin and hair. In fact, if the helmet becomes dirty and is not cleaned for a long time, it can cause problems like skin infection, dandruff, and hair fall. Sweat, dust and bacteria accumulate on the liner and straps of the helmet, increasing the risk of infection on the head and scalp. Therefore, it is very important to keep the helmet properly cleaned.
How to clean helmet-
1. Open and detach the helmet
The liner and pads inside most bike helmets are removable. First of all, open the helmet slowly and keep different parts separate. This makes complete cleaning of the helmet easier.
2. Wash the liner and pads
Hand wash the liner and pads with mild soap or shampoo. Do not machine wash, as this may damage the liner. After washing, rinse them thoroughly with clean water and keep them in the shade to dry.
3. Clean the outer shell
Clean the outer shell of the helmet with a microfiber cloth and mild soapy water. Do not use any abrasive brush to avoid scratches or discoloration.
4. Cleaning Straps and Buckles
Sweat and dust accumulate on the straps. Wipe them with a soft cloth and if necessary, wash with mild soap and dry.
5. Reassemble the complete helmet
Reassemble the helmet only after the liner and pads are completely dry. A wet liner can cause bacteria to grow inside the helmet.
Why is it important to clean helmet?
A dirty helmet affects the scalp. This can cause problems like dandruff, itching and hair fall. Especially in summer, helmets get dirty quickly due to sweat and dust. Cleaning the helmet every 2–3 months or as needed is important for health and hair safety.
Tips-
-Before cleaning, follow the instructions given on the helmet tag or box.
-Dry the helmet in direct sun, so that the bacteria die and the liner dries quickly.
-Do not use any strong chemical on the liner.
-Before wearing the helmet again and again, clean your hands and keep the straps clean.
-A clean and properly washed helmet not only protects your hair and skin, but also increases the life of the helmet. Therefore never forget to clean it regularly.
