If you want more privacy on WhatsApp and do not want people to keep an eye on your online activity all the time, then you can do this easily by changing some simple settings. So let us know how to hide your last seen and online status.
First of all let’s talk about hiding the last seen. For this, open WhatsApp and go to Settings. Here tap on Privacy and then select Last Seen option. Now some options will appear in front of you. If you want, you can choose Nobody, so that no one will be able to see when you were last online.
If you want to hide Last Seen from only some people, then you can select those people by choosing the option of My contacts except…. This will make it difficult for others to track your activity.

Now comes the turn to hide the online status. WhatsApp now also allows you to decide who can see you online. For this go to Settings > Privacy > Last seen and online. Here under Online select Same as last seen.
This would mean that people who do not see your Last Seen, will not be able to see your Online Status either.
If you don’t want to disappear completely, use the My contacts except… option correctly. This feature is very beneficial for those people who want to hide their activities from office colleagues or some acquaintances, but not from family and close friends.
Apart from this, you can also turn off Read Receipts i.e. Blue Tick. For this, go to Settings > Privacy and turn off Read Receipts. With this, the other person will not know whether you have read his message or not. Although this does not hide your online status, it does provide an additional privacy layer.
The thing to keep in mind is that privacy on WhatsApp works from both sides. If you hide your Last Seen and Online Status, you will also not be able to see this information of others.
