Fertilizer application method: India is an agricultural country, similarly the agriculture here is urea based. Our present farming has become dependent on chemical fertilizers. But lack of correct information about the use of chemical fertilizers has become dangerous for the fields. Local 18 contacted Ballia’s soil scientist Prof. Spoke to Ashok Kumar Singh.
Fertilizer use efficiency/Ballia. Every farmer wants a good yield, but even a small mistake can prove costly. Lack of correct information regarding the use of chemical fertilizers is increasing the problems of farmers. However, experts consistently recommend that it is important to use chemical fertilizers judiciously and in the right quantity. When there is deficiency of nutrients in the soil, farmers use DAP and urea, but if used incorrectly, the benefit to the crop is less and the economic loss is more. Urea and DAP are chemical fertilizers, hence one should always be cautious in their use. To achieve higher yields, lower costs and maintain soil fertility, farmers should use fertilizers in a balanced and scientific manner.
half gets spoiled
Prof. HOD of Soil Science and Agricultural Chemistry Department of Shri Murali Manohar Town Post Graduate College, Ballia. Ashok Kumar Singh tells Local 18 that the utilization efficiency of urea is only 40%. If a farmer applies 1 quintal of urea in his field, only 40 to 50 kg of it reaches the plants, the rest gets neutralized in the soil or evaporates in the air. Therefore, the most effective and best way is to not add urea in large quantities at one go but in several batches. For example, if a farmer uses 80 kg urea in wheat crop, then it should be divided into four equal parts and applied.
Adopt this method
Pro. According to Ashok, use it for the first time on 25 days, second time on 50 days, third time on 75 days and fourth time around 100 days. With this method, the farmer can save up to 50% urea and the crop will also continue to get nutrients on time. The most important thing to note is that while taking urea, definitely check its quality. Neem coated urea is considered the safest. It is better to choose urea with round, hard grains, so that there is no risk of buying adulterated fertilizer.
Why is DAP not good?
Pro. Ashok says that farmers use DAP in large quantities. Because it contains 18% nitrogen and 46% phosphorus. But due to continuous excessive use, the amount of phosphorus in the soil increases excessively, which is harmful for soil, water and plants. Therefore, it is more beneficial to use NPK fertilizer instead of DAP. In this, all three elements Nitrogen, Phosphorus and Potash are found in balanced form. Use of sulfur is also very useful and effective for every crop.
