Nalagarh. In Himachal Pradesh, families of youth are falling apart due to drug addiction. A similar case also came to light in Abhipur village of Nalagarh sub-division of Solan district, where a girl, troubled by her husband’s habit of writing, went to commit suicide. However, somehow the family members saved his life. At present, the victim is admitted in the hospital and is mentally disturbed. A complaint has also been given to the police.
The father told that about five years ago he had married his daughter according to Hindu customs with a young man named Ladi in Baruna Majra. Everything remained normal for the first two years, but after that the young man fell into the trap of a dangerous drug like chitta. The drunk husband neither worked nor provided any help in household expenses. On the contrary, he started beating, abusing and mentally torturing his wife day and night.
The family told that the daughter worked as an accountant in a private company and was bearing all the household expenses herself, but her husband and in-laws used to harass her even at work.
The victim told that her husband not only started forcing her to consume chitta but also to do dirty work. When he refused, he started beating and issuing threats.
The woman told that her husband tried to kill her several times by giving her a drug overdose. He was harassed not only at home but also in the company. Due to continuous mental harassment, she went into severe depression. Recently, on December 2, she was physically and mentally tortured by her husband and his family members. After this the husband reached the company and harassed her there too by giving threats. Under extreme pressure, the woman sent a message to her family that she was going to end her life. As soon as the message was received, the family got scared and immediately left towards Ropar Canal. By the time he reached, the daughter had jumped.
Complaint given to police against accused son-in-law
The father told that no one was daring to jump into the canal. Risking my own life, I jumped in and pulled my daughter out. Then took him to the hospital. According to the family members, the daughter was searched for a long time in the canal and she was taken out in an unconscious state. After the incident, the family has given a written complaint against the accused husband and his family at the police post Jogho. They allege that Ladi is not only a drug addict but is also involved in drug selling. Based on the complaint of the family members, the police have registered a case against the accused husband and others and started investigation. The police are also investigating aspects related to drug trafficking, domestic violence, mental harassment and abetment to suicide in this entire case. Police sources say that soon concrete action will be taken against the accused.
