During the excavation of a house being built under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana in Ambedkar Nagar of Godkhar village under Katkamdag block of Hazaribagh district, a sensation has spread due to the discovery of a very ancient idol about 1100 years old. Actually, Dhanva Devi of Godkhar village had got the benefit of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana. The land for the construction of the house was being excavated with a JCB machine. Meanwhile, suddenly a huge and artistic stone statue buried under the soil came out. As soon as this news spread, a crowd of villagers gathered at the spot.
Statue of Shiva-Parvati
Local people informed this to senior journalist Murari Singh. Murari Singh sent the photo and video of the idol to Dr. Neeraj Mishra, a famous archaeologist of Ranchi Unit. After seeing the photo and video, Dr. Neeraj Mishra claimed that this statue belongs to the Pala dynasty period and is probably between the ninth and tenth century. He has described it as ‘Uma-Maheshwar’, the joint statue of Lord Shiva and Mother Parvati. The sculpture and design of the statue reflects the advanced art style of that period.
People started worshiping
After the discovery of the idol, there is a heated discussion in the entire area. The family from the place where the idol was found has kept it safe in their house for the time being and worship has also started. People are coming from far and wide to see this amazing discovery. Villagers say that a temple should be built in the village and the idol should be formally consecrated. At the same time, some people are confused about what will be the stance of the administration and the government in future. Dhanva Devi says that even in her dreams she did not expect that history would emerge from the foundation of her house. Local resident Bigul Das said that this area has been known for historical remains even before.
Idols have been found before too
It is noteworthy that ancient remains and statues of Buddha have already been found in Chhadwa Dam area of Hazaribagh and Bahuranpur. It is clear from this that this entire area is very rich from historical point of view. There is a need that the government and the archeology department take cognizance of this discovery, so that the thousands of years old heritage buried in the soil can be revealed and the pride of Hazaribagh can be established not only on the national but also on the international stage.
