Kangra Accident: A youth died in a hit and run in Kangra district of Himachal Pradesh. The accused truck driver had fled from the spot and was caught by the people at some distance. Both the youths had stopped to eat Maggi. But during this time he was crushed by a truck.

Dehra. A tragic accident took place on National Highway-503 near Baglamukhi Temple in Kangra district of Himachal Pradesh on Wednesday. Two youths standing on the roadside at a place called ‘Sira Da Bharo’ near Dehra on Mubarikpur-Ranital NH were suddenly hit by a truck laden with iron rods. In the accident, one youth died on the spot, while the other was seriously injured. Both the youths were going from Jalandhar to Kangra for some work and had stopped to eat Maggi on the way.
According to the information, both the youths had ordered tea and Maggi from a roadside kiosk. According to kiosk owner Surinder, as soon as they started pouring water, a speeding truck hit the youth standing near the stall. The collision was so severe that the kiosk standing nearby also got hit by the truck. After the accident, the truck driver drove away the vehicle and stopped it about a kilometer ahead. The kiosk owner chased the truck on his scooter. They allege that the truck driver was under the influence of alcohol. 108 ambulance reached the spot and took both the injured youth and the truck driver to Civil Hospital Dehra. The condition of the injured is said to be serious.

Meanwhile, truck driver Kuldeep defended himself and said that his truck had not met with an accident. He claimed that when he passed by the spot, there was already blood on the road. The truck was going towards Gaggal Kangra carrying bars from Banur. Local people are blaming the illegal kiosks installed on the NH banks and the negligence of the administration for the accident. People say that parking of shops and vehicles on the roadside without permission is inviting major accidents. Ranital outpost police reached the spot and started investigating the cause of the accident. The police have started investigating the matter.
