India has opened tourist visa for Chinese citizens after five years, now they can apply from Indian embassies around the world. This means that a Chinese citizen living in any corner of the world can apply for a tourist visa from the Indian Embassy or Consulate. In such a situation, there are signs of improvement in India-China relations.
India has recently taken a big decision. Now a Chinese citizen living in any country of the world can apply for a tourist visa by going to the Indian Embassy or Consulate. This means that Chinese people have started getting visas to visit India from Indian missions all over the world. India has opened tourist visa for Chinese citizens after more than five years. This step is a big step towards normalizing relations between the two countries. With this, a Chinese citizen living in any corner of the world can apply for a tourist visa from the Indian Embassy or Consulate.
Let us tell you that in the year 2020, when the armies of the two countries came face to face on the LAC of Ladakh and there was a bloody clash in the Galwan Valley, India had stopped all visas for Chinese people. In that clash, 20 of our soldiers were martyred and at least four Chinese soldiers were also killed. Since then the relations between the two countries had deteriorated greatly. Now the situation is changing. This week itself, India started tourist visas for Chinese citizens in its embassies and consulates around the world. No official announcement has been made. In the month of July, India first started giving tourist visas to Chinese people from the Indian Embassy in Beijing and Consulates in Shanghai, Guangzhou, Hong Kong. Now it has been opened to the whole world.
Relations between China and India are getting better
Steps are being taken to build better relations between the two countries for the last few months. In October, direct flights between India and China started again, which were closed since the time of Corona. Apart from this, Kailash Mansarovar Yatra is also going to start again next summer. Visa is being made easier for different categories of passengers. This year, 75 years of diplomatic relations between the two countries have been completed, its celebrations were also celebrated in the embassies of both sides.
In October 2024, India and China had signed an agreement to withdraw their respective armies on the LAC. After this, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chinese President Xi Jinping met in Kazan city of Russia. Both the leaders decided that all the old mechanisms would be restarted, relations would be normalized and the border dispute would be resolved through talks. The result of that agreement is that now steps are being taken one after the other.
Trade between the two countries also increased
This decision was not easy for India. After the year 2020, tension with China had increased a lot. India banned Chinese apps, took strict action against Chinese companies, and stopped investments. But now it seems that the tension between the two countries has reduced. Business is also increasing. Indian exports to China have been continuously increasing every month since April. According to government data, an increase of 33% was seen in September and 42% in October. Apart from this, there is peace on the border also. One of the biggest benefits of this will be that the routes will be easier for Indians who want to go to China. This is a good sign that both the big neighboring countries are now leaving aside mutual disputes and moving on the path of cooperation.
There is currently no official statement from the government, but according to media reports, this step has been taken on the instructions of the leaders of both the countries. Many more small and big steps can be seen in the coming days.
