Passengers had to walk 500 meters to reach the next station, due to which passengers faced problems and reached their destination late. However later the service became completely normal.
Chennai. The Blue Line service of Chennai Metro, which provides convenient travel to the people, has become a cause of trouble. The metro train going from Wimco Nagar depot to Chennai Airport stopped in the subway (tunnel) between Central Metro and High Court station early in the morning. Electricity was cut off in the train and a large number of passengers were trapped inside. Passengers said that there was darkness in the train for about 10 minutes and no information was given. Because of this people got scared and started feeling suffocated. After this again there was an announcement from the Metro. Then people felt relieved. Passengers were asked to get down from the train and walk to the High Court metro station, which was about 500 meters away, and people went there on foot.
Such a video is going viral on social media, in which hundreds of passengers are seen walking in a dark tunnel in a line, holding the handrail. Many people were moving slowly with their belongings. People going to office in the morning faced problems. According to Chennai Metro Rail Limited, this problem occurred due to power failure or technical fault. After about half an hour of effort, all the passengers were taken out safely.
According to Chennai Metro, no passenger was injured. In the afternoon, all services on the Blue Line (Airport to Wimco Nagar Depot) and Green Line (Central Metro to St. Thomas Mount) became completely normal. The Metro administration has apologized for the inconvenience caused to the passengers. Such incidents have happened several times before, but the passengers faced problems when the train got stuck in the tunnel during the morning peak hour. Passengers had to walk. After this problem, questions have started being raised on the security arrangements and emergency plan of Chennai Metro. Passengers say that better arrangements should be made to avoid such situations in future, so that people do not face any problem in coming out of the tunnel.
