In winter, millet is no less than a boon for health, according to Ayurveda, millet is warming by nature, which keeps the body warm from inside and also provides energy. In such a situation, Ayurvedic experts recommend including coarse grains, especially millet, in the winter diet. According to Ayurveda, millet is considered as beneficial as almond in winter, it not only keeps the body warm from inside but also provides energy.
Ayurveda Dr. Chandra Prakash Dixit told Local 18 that millet is hot by nature. Therefore, its consumption during cold season is very beneficial for the body. He says that just as almond gives strength and warmth, similarly millet also makes the body strong in winter by giving it necessary nutrition. Protein, fiber, iron, calcium and many essential minerals are found in millet, which help in increasing the immunity of the body.
It is most important to consume millet in the winter season
According to Dr. Dixit, consuming millet roti, millet khichdi or laddu made from millet regularly in winter provides adequate energy to the body and reduces the effect of cold. Especially for those who suffer from cold hands and feet in winter, weakness or falling sick frequently, millet is no less than a panacea. It strengthens digestion and also gives relief from stomach related problems. In Ayurveda, millet is considered a complete diet. Millet is not just a grain but it is a natural remedy to prevent many diseases. Consuming it in winter provides relief from cold, cough, joint pain and stiffness in the body. Besides, it maintains warmth in the body for a long time, it is believed that millet must be included in the daily diet during the winter season. It not only gives strength like almonds, but also works like a superfood and helps in keeping the body healthy and away from diseases.
