Winter Vegetable Tips: Not every vegetable is suitable for the body in winter. Excessive consumption of cold-natured vegetables like bottle gourd, zucchini, cucumber, pumpkin and brinjal can have negative effects on health. These can increase problems related to cold, cough, phlegm and digestion. Children and elderly people with weak immunity are advised to take special precautions.

Bottle gourd can prove harmful especially for people who get cold easily, elderly people and small children. Zucchini or ridge gourd is also considered a vegetable with cold nature, excessive consumption of which can have a negative impact on health in the cold season. Eating zucchini in winter can increase phlegm and cause throat related problems like soreness and cough. In people with weak immunity, this vegetable can prevent cold and cough for a long time. Children and elderly people are advised to avoid zucchini during winter.

Cucumber and other raw vegetables can also prove harmful during the winter season. Cucumber is usually eaten as a salad, but its consumption in winter is considered to increase phlegm. This can cause problems like cold and chest congestion. Apart from this, raw cabbage, raw onion and undercooked vegetables can also weaken the digestive system. Digestion power remains slow in winter, in such a situation raw vegetables can cause stomach ache, gas and indigestion.
Pumpkin is also included in the vegetables with cold nature, excessive consumption of which can cause harm in winter. In some people, eating pumpkin may increase complaints of lethargy, feeling cold and cold. At the same time, experts also advise to be cautious regarding brinjal. Brinjal can increase allergies, throat discomfort and cough in some people. People who have weak immunity or are already suffering from cold and cough should eat brinjal in limited quantities.
