How To Clean Gold Jewelery At Home : The beauty of gold jewelery never gets old. Be it wedding bracelets, daily wear chains or your favorite ring, gold jewelery makes every look special. But with daily wear, their natural shine gradually starts fading. Sweat, skin oil, dust and makeup products deposit a layer on the gold, causing the jewelery to appear dull. The good thing is that there is no need to run to the jeweler every time for this. You can make gold shine at home with some simple things present in your kitchen.
Shine gold jewelery at home like this-
1. Lukewarm water and mild soap
This is considered to be the easiest and safest way to clean gold. Add a few drops of mild dishwash liquid to a bowl of lukewarm (not very hot) water. Now soak your gold jewelery in it for 15 to 20 minutes. After this, rub gently with a soft toothbrush, so that the accumulated dirt is removed. Wash with clean water and pat dry with a soft cloth. This method is best for daily wear jewellery.
2. Baking Soda and Water Paste
If stubborn dirt has accumulated on the jewellery, baking soda will come in handy. Make a paste by mixing a little water in one spoon baking soda. Apply this paste gently on the jewelery with the help of a soft cloth or brush. Be careful not to apply too much force. After this, wash thoroughly with water and dry completely. This method is especially effective in restoring the shine of old jewellery.
3. Get extra shine with vinegar
White vinegar is a natural cleaner, which can make gold shine like new. Place the ornaments in a small bowl and add enough white vinegar to completely submerge them. Leave it like this for 10 to 15 minutes. Then wash thoroughly with clean water and wipe dry with a microfiber cloth. This brings back the shine of gold to a great extent.
4. Easy toothpaste trick
Toothpaste is not only for teeth, it is also useful in enhancing the shine of gold. Keep in mind not to use gel or whitening toothpaste. Take a small amount of ordinary toothpaste on a soft cloth or brush and rub it on the gold in light and circular movements. After this wash with water and dry thoroughly. Note that do not use this method on gold-plated jewellery, because toothpaste is a bit rough.
5. Ammonia solution (use only occasionally)
Ammonia is effective for deep cleaning, but keep its use very limited. Mix 1 part ammonia and 6 parts water. Do not immerse the jewelery in it for more than 1 minute. Take it out immediately, wash it with water and dry it with a clean cloth. But repeated use of ammonia can spoil the finish of the jewellery. Adopt this only once or twice a year.
By adopting these easy home remedies, you can maintain the shine of your gold jewelery and keep it looking new for a long time.
