Mastitis Disease In Cow: In Sidhi district of Madhya Pradesh, a large number of farmers are doing business by opening dairies for milch animals. The economic condition of many families has been strengthened through milk production, but small carelessness in the care of animals sometimes becomes the cause of big losses. A serious problem among these problems is mastitis, which is seen especially after the animal gives birth to its calf and causes a huge decline in milk production. In case of mastitis, swelling, lump, pain and infection occurs in the udder of the animal. Sometimes blood or pus also starts coming out in the milk. If there is no timely treatment, this disease can persist for a long time, due to which milk production continuously decreases.
Giving information to Local 18, cattle farmer Santosh Kumar Mishra said that mastitis is often seen in cows. Proper preparation done before the animal gives birth can prove to be very effective in preventing this disease. Santosh told that when a cow is about to give birth, calcium given from outside should be stopped 48 hours before. Giving excess calcium increases problems like milk fever and jaundice, which can lead to mastitis.
What causes mastitis?
Santosh Kumar Mishra told that mastoid disease can occur due to many reasons, such as shining udder, lack of cleanliness and poor condition of the udder. Symptoms of this disease include increase in the size of udder, swelling, lump formation, restlessness of the animal and narrowing of the milk passage. Regarding home remedies, he told that lightly massaging the udder with castor oil is beneficial. Apart from this, boiling neem leaves and pouring cold water on the udder or applying it to the udder also reduces swelling. Giving half a kilo of jaggery and half a kilo of sugar to the sick animal for a few days is also beneficial. This treatment can be continued for 3 to 4 days. Feeding green coriander strips is also considered useful. During this period, milking of the sick animal should be done daily, even if there is blood in it.
Animal farmer Santosh Mishra said that do not depend only on expensive English medicines, but along with indigenous remedies, definitely consult the nearest veterinarian. With timely care, cleanliness and expert advice, mastitis can be controlled.
