Faridabad: These days the effect of bitter cold is increasing continuously in Haryana. Dense fog is being seen in most of the districts of the state from morning till late evening, due to which normal life is also getting affected. The blanket of fog has spread so much that at many places people are finding it difficult to see beyond a few meters. It is also affecting road and rail traffic. Vehicles are moving at a crawling speed on the road, while trains and buses are also arriving late. In the last few days, there has been a decline in night temperature as well as day temperature. As soon as the morning comes, the cold wave has started shaking the body and even during the day the effect of sunlight is visible. Meteorologists say that the cold north-western winds blowing from the hilly areas are continuously reaching the plains, due to which the cold is at its peak in the entire state.
According to the Indian Meteorological Department, there is every possibility of the temperature going down further in the last fortnight of December. The department has issued a yellow alert of dense fog in 12 districts of Haryana on 22 December. Fog conditions are expected to be more severe in Sonipat, Panipat, Karnal, Kurukshetra, Ambala, Yamunanagar, Kaithal, Gurugram, Rohtak, Jhajjar, Nuh Mewat and Faridabad. Apart from this, cold wave will continue in other districts also.
Weather experts believe that after December 24, the cold may become more intense in the state. There is a possibility of change in the direction of the winds, after which the icy winds coming from the northern direction will further cool the entire state. Due to this, there is also a possibility of dry cold and frost. Farmers are also worried now, because frost can affect many crops.
