Hair Care Tips: Hair fall, increased dryness and premature graying are common problems in winter. In such a situation, instead of chemical hair products, home-made powder made from traditional Gulmehndi leaves of Baghelkhand not only nourishes the hair but also helps in natural healing of the scalp. Hair fall, dry scalp and loss of shine due to dryness become common problems in winter. The trend of traditional remedies for hair care among women in winter is still strong. Gulmehndi or Rosemary has been considered a reliable herb for hair strength, shine and scalp health for centuries.
Its biggest feature is that the antioxidant, antibacterial and anti-fungal properties present in it have a direct effect on all the common problems occurring in winter like dandruff, hair fall and scalp dryness. There is a possibility of chemical adulteration in the packaged rosemary powder available in the market. In such a situation, making pure rosemary powder at home is the safest and most effective way.
The use of Gulmehndi is not new in the rural areas of Baghelkhand, rather it is an old tradition of hair care. Local women have been using it by calling it Gulmehandi powder. From preventing premature graying of hair to controlling hair fall, this herb is full of many natural properties. Talking to Local 18, Meena Dwivedi tells that even today this powder is prepared traditionally in village homes and is considered safer and more reliable than modern hair care products.

First of all, wash fresh Gulmendi leaves with clean water and dry them in the sun for 3-4 days. After the moisture in the leaves is completely gone, put them in the mixer and grind them finely. Sieve the prepared powder through a sieve so that its texture is completely smooth. Then it can be stored in an airtight container for a long time. This powder strengthens the hair from the roots due to its natural fragrance and medicinal properties.
Hair mask made from rosemary powder is considered very beneficial for hair. Prepare a thick paste by mixing aloe vera gel and coconut oil or curd in one spoon powder. After shampooing, apply this paste on the length and ends of the hair. After some time wash with cold water. This mask makes hair soft, thick and shiny. Also helps in reducing hairfall.
Using rosemary powder mixed with coconut oil strengthens the hair roots. For this, slightly warm the coconut oil and add one spoon of rosemary powder in it and leave it for 10 minutes. Later, filter it and apply it on the head and massage with light hands. This mixture increases blood circulation in the scalp, which causes faster hair growth and less breakage.
A natural hair serum can also be made from rosemary powder. For this, mix the powder in lukewarm water and leave it for 15-20 minutes and then filter it and fill it in a spray bottle. By spraying this serum on the hair twice a week, the hair looks naturally shiny and healthy.
