In this sequence, a new chapter has been added in the history of cricket of Gumla district. Jharkhand Under-16 team has been selected for BCCI’s prestigious Vijay Merchant Trophy 2025-26. In which the rising star cricketer of our Gumla district, Aashishan Kumar, has been selected. Due to which a wave of happiness has run among the sports lovers of the district. Due to the selection of Aashishan, there is an atmosphere of happiness in his family and school. Let us tell you that this competition will be held in Cuttack from 7th December 2025.

Ashishan’s family has a deep connection with cricket. Because many members of his family have been playing cricket for a long time, his elder brother also plays cricket, he has been a good performer of his time, Ashishan also got his proper guideline. But when he joined Gumla Cricket Association, the motivation, guidance and dedication of coach Gyan and his entire team, the output has been received today by Gumla District Cricket Association. And it is a very pleasant moment that a player from Gumla has been selected in the state team and we all are hopeful that he will perform better in this domestic tournament of BCCI and will bring glory to the state and district.

He lives in Palkot Road, Shanti Nagar, Gumla city and has been playing cricket since childhood and along with studies, he practices for 3 to 4 hours daily. And now he is taking training in Jamshedpur Cricket Association. He is a 11th class student of DAV Public School, Gumla. And he has been selected as a right-handed batsman and along with batting, he also bowls well. In the Vijay Merchant Trophy, Jharkhand will compete with the teams of Maharashtra, West Bengal, Assam, Manipur and Kerala. We hope that there too he will perform well and bring glory to the district and the state. On his selection, Gumla District Cricket Association President, Secretary, Coach, Kuldeep Singh, Akash Singh, All the sports lovers including Manoj Chaudhary, Omprakash Singh, Saurabh Vishwakarma, Kamal Pathan have congratulated Ashishan.
