Injured became victims of Manjha, reaching the hospitals all day
Mehsana (Gujarat). In many places on Makar Sankranti, there is a tradition of kite flying on Uttarayan festival. A three-year-old girl and a 35-year-old man died after coming under the grip of kite strings during the Uttarayan festival in different cities of Gujarat on Saturday. This festival has become a source of mourning for two families.
According to police officials, 3-year-old Krishna Thakor, who was going home with her mother in Visnagar town of Mehsana district, died when a kite string got entangled in her neck in the afternoon. “The girl was declared brought dead on arrival at the nearest government hospital,” said a police officer.

In another incident in Chani area of Vadodara city, a motorcyclist named Swamiji Yadav died after his neck was slit by a kite string. “Swamiji Yadav was coming down from a bridge on his two-wheeler when a kite string got stuck in his neck, killing him instantly,” said an official of Chhani police station.

Meanwhile, officials of the Emergency Medical Services (EMS) system said several cases of people being injured by kite strings were reported throughout Gujarat throughout the day.
