WhatsApp is constantly working on new features, so that users can get a better chatting experience. In this series, the company is testing a new feature ‘Group Tag’, through which users will be able to give personalized tags to other members of the group. This feature is currently available only for select Android beta testers, but it will soon be rolled out for all users.
According to the report of WABetaInfo, this new feature has been seen in WhatsApp Beta Android version 2.25.17.42. With its help, group members will be able to assign themselves a custom tag (up to 30 characters), which other members will be able to see.
These tags can be used to represent a person’s role, profession, hobby, or responsibility in a group. For example Coach, Project Manager, Moderator.
The most important thing is that the complete control of setting these will be with the user himself and not with the group administrator.
Tag rules and limitations.
According to the report, the maximum length of the tag will be 30 characters. Special characters, check marks or links cannot be added in it. The tag can be changed or edited at any time.

These tags will only appear in the group in which they are set. These will not be transferred to other chats or groups. Additionally, tags will be preserved even if you reinstall WhatsApp or get a new phone.
