Bihar government is going to take a big step to give Sitamarhi a new identity of urban development. Preparations have intensified to develop the grand Sitapuram Satellite Town in 700 acres around Punauradham Janaki Temple. This entire area will be equipped with modern facilities, wide roads and commercial structures built on the model of Ayodhya. With direct connectivity to the proposed six-lane NH, this new city will become a major center of tourism, trade and religious faith. According to the Urban Development Department, the construction of Sitapuram will bring a big change not only in the economy and geography of Sitamarhi but also in the entire Mithila region.
Proposals for four possible locations in Sitamarhi for satellite town have been sent to the department. One of these sites will be selected on the basis of land value, accessibility, future prospects and geography. According to Municipal Corporation’s Town Planner Rahul Kumar, this new city will develop within a radius of about eight kilometers from the present Sitamarhi Nagar. The area on or adjacent to the municipal corporation limits can be selected. Its direct connectivity will be ensured with Punauradham Janaki Temple and the proposed six-lane national highway. Devotees and tourists coming from Patna and other parts of the country should have the facility to reach Sitapuram without any hindrance.
24×7 availability of electricity and water
State-of-the-art infrastructure will be developed in Sitapuram. Which will include wide roads, 24×7 electricity-water availability, modern sewage system, organized residential sectors, green areas and large parks. Sports grounds, amusement parks, community centers and public facilities will also be given priority. Modern systems like waste management and water conservation will be implemented for environmental protection. The Urban Development Department is preparing a master plan, under which the entire city will be organized as Old Area and New Area. For this, the survey process is going on by expert agencies.
Mithilanchal will be economically strong
On the lines of Ayodhya, shopping malls, hotels, religious-tourism centers and other commercial establishments will be developed in Sitapuram to attract devotees. This will create new employment opportunities and also encourage private investment. With the development of the proposed divine and grand temple in Punauradham and Sitapuram, the area will emerge as a major hub of religious tourism. The government hopes that this project will not only change the image of the district but will also play a decisive role in making Mithilanchal economically strong and tourism-wise.
