According to the department, all the suspended engineers failed to fully fulfill the responsibility of redressal of consumer complaints in their respective areas, after which this action was taken. The officials are accused of not resolving the cases registered on the feedback system and complaint portal within the stipulated time. According to departmental sources, monitoring regarding ‘time bound complaint redressal’ is being increased across the state. If such negligence is found in any district in the coming days also. So strict steps will be taken against more officers.
This action is being said to be part of the government’s ‘zero tolerance policy’. According to departmental sources, regular review of water supply schemes will now be done district wise, so that the public can get uninterrupted water service. This step is expected to improve both accountability and efficiency in the coming days.
