Rohtas: An important initiative has been taken towards strengthening the business of street vendors in the urban areas of Kaimur district. Under this scheme, loans up to Rs 15 thousand will be given in the first phase, Rs 25 thousand in the second phase and Rs 50 thousand in the third phase. In the same sequence, a joint meeting of Municipal Council officials and representatives of various banks was organized in Bhabhua Municipal Council Auditorium regarding PM Swanidhi Scheme. In the meeting, Municipal Council CMC and Manager Manoj Kumar Keshari appealed to the bank managers present to speed up the process of loan approval to street vendors under the scheme. He said that this scheme can play an important role in making the street vendors self-reliant and increasing their income.
Officials of SBI, Bandhan Bank, Union Bank of India, Canara Bank and other banks were present in the meeting. All the bank representatives and Municipal Council officials agreed to provide the benefits of the scheme to the identified street vendors of the Municipal Council area soon. According to the information, there are a total of 990 identified street vendors in Bhabhua Municipal Council area who are to be provided loans under PM Swanidhi Scheme for the purpose of expansion of their business and economic progress. Under the scheme, they will be given loans up to Rs 15 thousand in the first phase, Rs 25 thousand in the second phase and Rs 50 thousand in the third phase through banks.

A target has been set to provide benefits of this scheme to 500 street vendors in Bhabhua Municipal Council area only. Apart from this, a target has been set to provide loans to 200-200 shopkeepers in Nagar Panchayat Ramgarh and Nagar Panchayat Kudra. Along with this, loans will also be provided to shopkeepers in Nagar Panchayat Hata. Officials believe that after getting loans through banks, the economic condition of street vendors in urban areas will improve. This will not only make them self-reliant but will also be able to support their families in a better way.
