The government is shopping for Kharif crops at the MSP amid farmers’ opposition.
Amid opposition to the new farm laws, the central government has fiercely purchased Kharif Crops at the Minimum Support Price (MSP). The government has procured 25 percent more paddy than last year till 16 January 2021. 79.24 lakh farmers have benefited directly from this.

The Food Corporation of India (FCI) had procured 450.42 lakh tonnes of paddy on MSP from farmers in the same period last year. It has been said in the official statement that 79.24 lakh farmers have already got direct benefit from the government purchase this year. It was also said that in the current Kharif marketing season 2020-21, the government has continued to purchase Kharif crops from farmers as per MSP schemes.
