In this series, let us now discuss the progress of farmers through marigold flower gardening. Bihar government has approved Rs 6 crore 32 lakh 50 thousand under the State Scheme Head Flower Development Scheme to promote the cultivation of marigold flower. Lakhisarai has also been included in this scheme. Due to which the farmers here are going to get direct economic benefits. Farming starts at low cost and gives better prices, hence marigold flower has become a favorite crop among the farmers in the last few years.
Marigold flower gardening in 20 hectares
District Horticulture Officer Rajiv Ranjan told Local 18 that a target has been set for marigold flower gardening in 20 hectares in Lakhisarai. Marigold flower is cultivated twice a year, due to which farmers can earn good income throughout the year. It costs about ₹80,000 per hectare, out of which the government will provide direct assistance of 50% i.e. ₹40,000 per hectare. This assistance will be sent to the accounts of farmers through DBT. The department provides 28 thousand plants to the farmers for cultivation in one hectare.

Necessary resources will also be made available. This includes arrangements for transport facilities, so that farmers can easily transport their crops to the market. This will reduce transportation costs and they will get better profits.
Farmers will get grant up to Rs 80 thousand
According to the update from the department, it has also been decided in the scheme that farmers will be able to avail benefits only up to a maximum of 2 hectares, so that more and more farmers get the benefit of the scheme. The application process will be completely online. It will be operated on first come, first served basis. Farmers will have to apply only by registering on the DBT portal. According to the scheme, a farmer can get a maximum grant of up to ₹ 80,000.
Demand for marigold flowers remains throughout the year
It is most used in functions like weddings, religious programs, festivals and decorations. That is why its prices in the market often remain stable and farmers can expect good profits. The government hopes that with this scheme, the scope of flower cultivation in the district will increase, farmers will become self-reliant and there will be a direct increase in their income.
