Mumbai. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate New Mumbai Metro Line 2A and 7 on 19 January. This metro line has been built at a cost of about 12,600 crores. PM Modi will also take a metro ride after the inauguration. According to the PMO, Metro Line 2A connecting Dahisar E and DN Nagar (Yellow Line) is about 18.6 km long, while Metro Line 7 connecting Andheri E-Dahisar E (Red Line) is about 16.5 km long. The foundation stone of these lines was also laid by Prime Minister Modi in the year 2015.
PM Modi will ride on the new metro line from Gundavali to Mogra. Metro service will start on this line from 20 January. Two parallel metro corridors will be connected on the Western Express Highway, due to which this 35 km route will be fully functional. Apart from this, those traveling between Dahisar and Ghatkopar can now travel without leaving the metro. Metro 2A will provide connectivity to Metro Line 1, Metro Line 2B, 7 (Andheri East to Dahisar East) and Metro Line 6 (Swami Samarkh Nagar to Vikhroli).
Apart from this, a maintenance depot has been set up in Charkop and Malwani on 16.40 hectares for the maintenance of trains. There will be a total of 17 stations on Metro Line 2A. Metro Line 7 will provide interconnectivity to Western Express Highway, Metro Line 1 (Ghatkopar to Versova), Metro Line 2A and Metro Line 6. There will be a total of 13 stations on Metro Line 7. Please tell that PM Modi will participate in a mass program for the first time after Eknath Shinde became the CM.
Recently CM Eknath Shinde and Deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis also visited this new metro line. The foundation stone for the first phase of the Mumbai Metro Rail was laid in 2006 by then Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, while construction began two years later in 2008. The first trial run was conducted in 2013 and it became operational in 2014. Most metro projects have been hit by delays in environmental clearance, land acquisition problems and protests.
