Free Health Check-UP: Under the new labor law, the government has made a provision for free health checkup every year for all private sector employees. Now it will be necessary for companies to conduct free health checkup every year for employees above 40 years of age.
New Delhi. Friday 21st November was a day of great news for Indian employees. The government has announced major changes to provide social security to about 40 crore workers of the country. In this, facilities like gratuity, overtime and free health checkup have also been provisioned. Under the new Labor Code i.e. Labor Law issued by the government, all employees above 40 years of age will be given the benefit of free health checkup. Whether they are from government sector or private.
Labor Minister Mansukh Mandaviya said that the new labor laws have come into effect from November 21, 2025. Under the Social Security Code, 2020, all the employees of the country will be given the benefit of free health checkup after crossing the age of 40 years. Currently, under some government schemes like ESIC and CGHS, this benefit is given only to state and central government employees. But, under the new law, employees of all sectors will be given the benefit of medical examination.
Who will get the benefit?
Under the new labor law, all employees working in government, private, factory, shop or other establishment will be given the benefit of medical examination after crossing the age of 40 years. This law and facility applies to all types of employees, whether contract, fixed term or regular. Also, there is no limit on income in this. This means that a clerk will get the same benefits as a top level officer.
What is included in the investigation
- In the new labor law, the government has issued a list to cover many diseases under the annual health checkup.
- Free tests under the scheme may include blood pressure, blood sugar, cholesterol, kidney and liver function test etc.
- These tests have been included for timely identification of serious diseases like diabetes and heart disease.
- The government has also made a provision to provide the benefit of ESIC coverage with 100% health protection to those working in hazardous areas like mines and crude oil sector.
How will employees get benefits?
- Employees will not have to do any hard work to get this benefit under labor law.
- Your employer i.e. the company will organize health checkup every year.
- For this, the company will complete the checkup during working hours through a tie-up with a doctor or clinic.
- Employees will have to contact their HR or employer and provide proof of their age i.e. birth certificate.
- After the health checkup, its report will be sent directly to your employer.
- If an employer does not follow this rule, you can complain on the Labor Department’s helpline number 1800-11-1407.
Required for which employers
According to the information given by the government, this health checkup camp can be organized near the company or in the ESIC clinic or any hospital tied to it. If your employer employs 10 or more employees then it will be mandatory for him to follow this rule. This has been cleared in the scheme, there is no limit on salary for scrutiny. No matter what your salary is, it is the responsibility of the company to organize a health checkup for you every year.
