Delhi government announced subsidy for two-wheelers
On Sunday, on the occasion of launching the next phase of the Switch Delhi campaign, Delhi Transport Minister Kailash Gehlot said that two more three-wheelers contribute two-thirds of Delhi’s pollution. Three-wheelers run on the road for 12-16 hours every day. Now, focusing on them in EV policy will be successful in converting them into electricity, which will greatly benefit Delhi’s air quality.
There is a tremendous demand for electric vehicles from the public and industry of Delhi.
30 thousand rupees subsidy to promote e-rickshaw
Significantly, the Delhi government has been giving a subsidy of 30 thousand rupees for the promotion of e-rickshaws for the last few years. After the EV policy, the same subsidy is being given on e-cart loaders and e-autos. Up to 30 thousand rupees will be provided on the purchase of each vehicle. A discount of up to Rs 7500 will be available for scraping and de-registering an old CNG auto rickshaw registered in Delhi. Road tax and registration fee will also be waived for all electric three wheelers.
29 thousand rupees can be saved annually
Kailash Gehlot said that the subsidy given by Delhi government on electric three-wheeler auto under Delhi’s EV policy reduces their price by 26 percent. About 29 thousand rupees can be saved annually by purchasing an electric three wheeler auto. Similarly, the subsidy on electric e-rickshaw reduces its price by 33 percent.

Under Delhi’s EV policy, 177 three-wheeler models are available for purchase and 68 manufacturers are offering scrap incentives. The Delhi government has recently floated tenders for levy of 500 charging points at 100 sites, most of which will have slow chargers which are particularly suitable for two and three wheelers. Kailash Gehlot said that we have worked at the ground level to run electric vehicles smoothly in Delhi. We now demand the cooperation and commitment of Delhiites to make this movement a success.
