Varanasi: Former Regional Director of Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) KK Mohammad has made a big appeal to Muslims. He has said that Muslims should give up their claim on Gyanvapi Mosque. India is a secular country because there are more Hindus here. Saints have supported the statement. KK Mohammad once again giving a big statement regarding Mathura, Kashi and Gyanvapi said in a live conversation with StuffUnknownthat in order to maintain social harmony and trust between the two communities, the Muslim society should be ready to hand over these disputed sites to the Hindu side by showing a ‘good gesture’. He clearly said that he is making this appeal not today but for a long time, because he feels that these places are as sacred for the Hindu society as Mecca and Medina are for the Muslims.
There were temples earlier at both the places, there is no doubt about it – KK Mohammad
The former ASI officer told during the conversation that he himself had worked in the Archeology Department at both Mathura and Gyanvapi places. He claimed that earlier there were temples at these places, there is no scope for doubt in this. He said that if ASI’s findings are presented in the court, it will be difficult for the Muslim side’s claims to stand, because many archaeological facts clearly show the presence of temples.
Legal fight has its place, but harmony will be achieved only through dialogue.
KK Mohammed clarified that he is in no position to comment on legal matters. He said that whether it is Mathura or Varanasi, the decision will be taken in the court. But for social and religious harmony, Hindu and Muslim leadership should sit together and find a solution. According to him, if the top leaders of both the parties sit together and find a solution, then the atmosphere will not go towards tension and an example can be set for the future.
Same appeal was made in Ayodhya also, many Muslims were ready to accept
The former ASI officer told that even during the Ayodhya dispute, he had talked to the Muslim community. He claimed that a large section of the Muslim society was still ready for a solution, but some outside communist historians spoiled the atmosphere.
He said that some historians of Aligarh Muslim University and JNU complicated the issue by taking Muslims in the wrong direction. KK Mohammad said that some Hindu organizations are filing cases against many mosques and structures across the country, which is increasing unnecessary tension. He said that behind every old building it should not be seen whether there was a temple earlier or not. This will increase unnecessary disputes. Both the communities will have to show restraint.
Muslim community is thinking changed, solution is possible if there is dialogue
He claimed that the thinking is changing in many large sections of the Muslim society and if talks are held on the right platform, then a solution is possible on all three disputed sites. Although he also told that some organizations are opposing it and also make personal criticism, but this does not change his opinion.
