Bokaro: A swindler has been caught in Bokaro, Jharkhand, whose smooth talk and government officer-like mannerisms were trusted by women. He not only won hearts by showing dreams of love, marriage and a secure future, but also disappeared with jewelery and cash as soon as he got the chance. But this time his trickery could not last long and the police exposed his entire game.
On the instructions of SP, Sector-4 police station arrested Sankalp Kumar alias Golu, resident of Fatuha, Patna. The accused used to befriend women through social media, sometimes pretending to be a bank officer and sometimes a government officer. The conversation would gradually turn into love and then he would lure women into his trap by promising them marriage. A similar incident happened with Anjali Sinha, a married woman resident of Biada Colony. After friendship on social media, Sankalp introduced himself as a bank officer and won the trust by talking about marriage. Within a few days, he told the woman that it would be better to keep the jewelery safe in the bank locker. The woman trusted him and handed over her precious jewellery. After this Sankalp suddenly disappeared, the mobile was also switched off.
The jeweler was also involved in the game of fraud
When the woman realized that she was cheated, she lodged a complaint at Sector-4 police station. Police started investigation and on the basis of technical evidence, arrested Sankalp from Fatuha in Patna. During interrogation it was revealed that the accused did not work alone. To melt the defrauded jewellery, he had taken the help of Suryakant Soni, owner of Shashi Jewelers located in Kurtha, Fatuha. Jewelery was melted and made into small gold coins, so that identification became difficult.
Police engaged in investigation
Police arrested both the accused and recovered Rs 1 lakh 75 thousand in cash and about 22 grams of gold from them. SP Harvinder Singh said that Sankalp Kumar has been involved in many such cases in the past also. Posing as a government official, he used to lure women and girls into marriage and as soon as he got a chance, he would run away with the jewellery. Many old cases are also expected to be opened after this arrest. The police is now trying to find out how big is the network of this fraud gang and how many women have become its victims so far.
