If your geyser is taking a long time to heat water, scaling, thermostat settings or power problems could be the reason. Know in detail the reasons for water not heating properly and immediate solutions.
During winter, if the geyser does not heat the water properly and quickly, it can be quite troublesome. We use hot water the most during the cold season, in such a situation slowing down of the geyser can become a big problem. But there is no need to panic. By adopting some easy steps you can fix this problem immediately.
Today we will know that if your geyser is not heating water properly and on time, then what could be the reasons behind it and how it can be fixed.
The biggest reason for the geyser being slow is scaling. The most common reason for geyser water heating slowly is scaling. Photo: Crompton.

Minerals like calcium and magnesium present in water gradually get deposited on the geyser tank and heating element. With time this layer becomes thick and hard. Photo: Crompton.
This causes two problems: Direct contact between the heating element and water is reduced. It takes more time to heat water. Sometimes the scaling becomes so severe that it can cause damage to the heating element or tank.
What to do? According to experts, it is necessary to get the geyser serviced before the start of every winter. The service involves de-scaling of the tank and cleaning of all the parts, due to which the geyser starts delivering hot water at the same speed as before and also saves electricity. (Photo: Havells)
Problem with power supply or thermostat – A thermostat is installed in the geyser to control the temperature. If the water is heating late, then first of all the setting of the thermostat should be checked.
These can be two reasons: First, the temperature is set low – Many times people set the temperature low, due to which it takes more time to heat the water.
Secondly, the thermostat is faulty – If the water is getting heated late despite the setting being correct, then it is a sign that the thermostat has failed. In such a situation, the right solution is to get it replaced.
